Israeli Za'atar

Tastes Like:  Thyme - Sumac - Sesame Seed

Za’atar (pronounced “Zah-tar”) is a common traditional spice blend found throughout the Middle East. Each region takes ownership of a particular variation of Za’atar, and our interpretation is one most commonly found in the kitchens of Israel. The blend is diverse in its applications because it balances the earthiness of French Thyme, the nuttiness of slow-toasted Sesame Seed, and the tartness of the Sumac Berry.

Jessica's Tips:  In a pinch, store-bought hummus topped with Za'atar and pita bread for dipping can satiate any unexpected guest.

Recipe Ideas: Za'atar Marinated Kebabs, Israeli Roasted Vegetables
