Ethiopian Berbere

Tastes Like:  Black Peppercorn - Coriander - Sweet Paprika - Cardamom

Berbere is a traditional spice blend used in Ethiopian cooking. Our interpretation utilizes the full-bodied Sweet Paprika and Cayenne Chile to form a base of gentle, fruity heat. We then add savory elements in the form of Peppercorn, Garlic, Coriander, and Cumin and set these against the warm, sweet backdrop of Cinnamon, Allspice, Clove, Cardamom, and Ginger. The inclusion of Ajwain and Fenugreek offers a pleasant earthy bitterness. Together, all of these competing flavors are combined to create a blend that offers warmth, depth, and a gentle heat–while also being steeped in the heritage of Ethiopian cuisine.

Jessica's Tips:  The warmth of Berbere is perfection for any warm, rainy day meal.
